Islamorada Fishing Charter July 25, 2009
The charter started off on a strange note...........One member of the charter was unable to go out because of an injury from ping pong. Yes, I said ping pong. I promised no names would be exposed, but this is a regular charter who fishes several days a year. His son was given the nick name "split shot" on a previous charter so we decided "ping pong" made a good nick name for his Dad! Now throw in their friend who is nick named Zorro and you know it will be an interesting day!!
The weather was calm in the morning. Did I mention that when "ping pong" comes down to fish the weather is usually challenging to say the least. We ran across the bay looking for Snook. We caught the tide right and boated several Snook. Then the rumbling began. We started moving back toward islamorada when we came across a Tripletail drifting along with the tide. A great cast and Tripletail was on the menu that evening. During the year there are maybe two times where storms just build up and connect to each other making a wall of nasty weather. This was becoming one of those days. We headed directly South from east Cape attempting to run around the storms. Skirting the edge of the building thunder storms we made it around and back to dock. The storm stretched almost 20 miles so it was an interesting ride and an awesome site ( when you are on the outside of the storm looking in) We shortened the day for safety and I am sure there will be more stories from this group in the future.

We decided that if you were on the boat the storms would have converged and we would have had the perfect storm.
